The Location 🌿
Left of Field is located at Shop 3/7 Gauthorpe Street, Rhodes, right near the beautiful Rhodes foreshore.
The location is one of the things that makes this café particularly lovely. You can grab brunch and coffee before or after a walk along the waterfront, with plenty of open green space and river views nearby.
It’s a great little weekend combination: walk + coffee + brunch = a very successful morning.
Street parking is available around the area, with additional parking at Rhodes Central, which is around an eight-minute walk away.
The Coffee ☕️
Now, let's get to the important stuff: the coffee. Left of Field uses Single O beans, making it a great stop for coffee lovers who appreciate a quality brew. I recommend trying their flat white or iced latte, both are definitely worth adding to your order. And here's a cute little bonus: when you order a coffee, you get a small piece of cake on the side. Because apparently coffee tastes even better when it comes with a tiny sweet treat.
The Food 🍳🥑
The menu at Left of Field is definitely not your standard smashed avo-and-eggs situation. The café is known for putting a creative spin on brunch classics, with a menu that changes and evolves. Current offerings include dishes such as sesame crumbed chicken, Veneto salami, egg-based dishes and a nuts-about-eggplant option, as well as freshly made sandwiches. Their sandwiches are made to order, with house-made sauces and pickles, which is a very good reason to arrive hungry. If you're more of a sweet brunch person, keep an eye out for their seasonal menu offerings too.
One of my recommendations from Left of Field is the Maqui Berry Bowl. It's a great option if you're after something fresh, colourful and a little lighter for brunch. Pair it with one of their coffees and you've got yourself a very cute little café date.
Dog-Friendly? 🐶
Yes! Left of Field has outdoor seating and welcomes dogs, and they even offer puppuccinos for their four-legged customers. So if your weekend plans involve your furry bestie, this is one to keep on the list.
