Find your people

University isn't just about grades.

Try to find people you actually enjoy being around — whether that's classmates, people from a society, your tutorial group, friends from another course or someone you randomly started talking to while waiting for coffee.

You don't need a massive university friendship group.

Even having one or two people you can message with "did you understand what the lecturer meant?" can make university feel much less lonely.y. Sometimes you will have multiple articles, chapters and resources to work through before your next class.

Learning how to identify the important information is a skill in itself.

Look at the learning outcomes, lecture material and assessment requirements first. Then work out which readings are most relevant and focus your energy there.

University isn't about memorising every single sentence you read. It's about learning how to engage with information, think critically and apply what you've learnt.
