Sweat, Squats & Ripstix:
My Pound Fit Journey
Intro in my Pound Fit Journey
As someone who spends a questionable amount of time in running shoes, at reformer Pilates, or convincing myself that an iced coffee counts as a post-workout recovery strategy, I thought I had a pretty good idea of what my fitness routine looked like. Then Pound Fit entered the picture. If you've never tried it, imagine combining a workout with a rock concert, grabbing a pair of Ripstix and being encouraged to make as much noise as possible while you squat, lunge, tap, punch and move to the music.Basically, it's exercise — but make it fun.And honestly? I was intrigued. What started as a "let's give this a try" moment has turned into a surprisingly fun part of my fitness routine. It's completely different from running and Pilates, which is exactly what I think I love about it.So, here's my little Pound Fit journey — from my first class and figuring out what on earth I was doing with those sticks, to discovering why sometimes the best workouts are the ones that don't feel like a workout at all. What is POUND Fitness?
The Concept: Participants use specialized, lightly weighted drumsticks (Ripstix) to drum on the floor and air, turning movement into music.
The Workout: A typical 45-minute class fuses cardio, plyometrics, and isometric movements to target the entire body, burn between 350 and 450 calories, and relieve stress.
Inclusivity: The workout is easily modifiable for all fitness levels, ages, and abilities, welcoming beginners with zero musical or drumming background.
Programs: Aside from standard classes, variants like Generation POUND cater specifically to kids aged 6–12 by fusing music and movement to build coordination and teamwork.
